Appleが、5年近くそのままにしていたMagSafeアダプタに関するサポート文書のページを突如更新、「MacBookにMagSafeが復活する兆しでは？」と話題になっています。
約5年ぶりの更新
Appleは現地時間2021年7月20日、「Appleポータブル：MagSafeアダプタのトラブルシューティング」のページを更新しました。日本語の同一内容のページはまだ更新されておらず、最後の更新日は2016年12月1日です。
米メディアMacRumorsの記者サミ・ファシ氏が、約6年ぶりに同ページが更新されていることを発見。Bloombergやアナリストのミンチー・クオ氏が、MacBookにおいてMagSafeアダプタが復活すると予想していることを引き合いに出し、「非常に興味深い」と述べています。
「これは興味深い。AppleはMacBook MagSafe充電器のサポート文書を大幅変更する決断を下したようだ。このサポート文書が最後に更新されたのは2016年11月なので、ほぼ5年ぶりの更新ということになる。現行のMacBookにMagSafeを搭載しているモデルは存在しない」

「Appleは説明をわかりやすくする、新しい説明を追加するなどして、サポート文書をしばしば更新しているが、今回のケースが特に興味深いのは、Bloombergとクオ氏の両方が、MagSafeが復活すると予想していることだ。ただしこのアップデートは単に旧型Macのユーザー向けということもありうる」
