プロッサー氏によれば、HomePod miniは小型スピーカーとしての利用だけではなく、UWBハブとして、iPhone、AirPods、Apple Watchなどを繋ぐ、核となるデバイスに位置づけられるようです。
As I mentioned before, UWB (integrated with the U1 chip) is the next big standard for Apple. It’s just as important as wifi and bluetooth.
Not only is it incredibly accurate for location tracking, but it’s also super fast for data transfer.

プロッサー氏の情報では、Appleは今後UWBに、BluetoothやWi-Fiのような高速データ転送技術としての役割を担わせるようです。
HomePod miniは、11月6日（金）に予約開始、11月16日（月）に99ドル（約10,800円）で発売されると噂されています。
