AppleのAirPodsやiPhone7以降のiPhoneなどで利用可能な空間オーディオ機能が、Pixel向けAndroidアップデートにより、2023年1月中にGoogle Pixel 6/7シリーズとPixel Buds Proの組み合わせでも利用可能になる見通しです。
数週間以内に空間オーディオ実現するアプデ配信
Googleは現地時間1月3日、AndroidおよびPixelの月例セキュリティアップデートを配信しました。
同社はこのアップデートにおいて、有線接続したヘッドセットにサラウンドサウンドを提供する静的空間オーディオのサポートを含めるとしています。対象となるのはGoogle Pixel 6/6 Pro/7/7 Proです。
同時に、今後数週間以内にPixel Buds Pro向けに別のアップデートを配信、ヘッドトラッキングによる空間オーディオを実現することも予告しています。

Pixel Buds Pro発表時に空間オーディオ対応を予告
GoogleはPixel Buds Proを発表した時に、将来的には空間オーディオに対応させる計画を明かしていました。
2022年9月には、Android 13のQuarterly Platform Release 1（QPR1）のベータ版において、Pixel Buds ProだけでなくすべてのBluetoothイヤホン/ヘッドホンの設定に空間オーディオの設定が表示されるようになっていました。
その後空間オーディオの設定はいったん削除されましたが、2023年1月のアップデートで、Google Pixel 6/6 Pro/7/7 Proのみを対象として復活しました。
